Matt Bianco
2nd June 2010, 7,30 p.m., Hall 1 of the National Palace Of Culture

Matt Bianco – the band at the forefront of British and European jazz pop – will have their first concert in Bulgaria on the 16th of April to present their latin-flavoured modern and hugely successful new album Hifi Bossanova. The concert is at 7,30 p.m. at Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture.

Hifi Bossanova overflows with energy – it is vital, up-tempo, stylish and on the cutting edge of contemporary music. The album introduces the band’s new vocal Hazel Sim. She is exquisite and fine, and her voice floats on the breeze of Latin music. The band is led by Mark Reilly and Mark Fisher, for whom Hifi Bossanova is the first studio album in 7 years.

Matt Bianco’s story is associated with changes, growth and success. Originally they had the Polish Basia as their lead vocal – and she rose to internatoional stardom with the British band. In 1985 Matt Bianco won the European Music Award for best single for their hit Yeah Yeah, and in 1988 their sensational Wap Bam Boogie was voted best club track. Most of Matt Bianco’s career is tied to dance, Latin and funk music. At the beginning of the 21st century they came up with the album Rico with Cuban-style music. Part of it was recorded in the Havana studio, where Wim Wenders and Ry Cooder worked on their Buena Vista Social Club project.
